Privacy Policy
Last updated: 4 August 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Acute Academy collects, uses, stores and protects personal information when you visit acute.academy, create a student account, use the Acute Academy learning platform or Android app, enrol on a programme, contact us or attend practical training.
1. Who is responsible for your information
For UK programmes, the data controller is Acute Academy CIC, company number 17327463, 20–22 Wenlock Road, London, England, N1 7GU.
For Nigeria programmes, the responsible organisation is Acute Renewable Technology Energy Ltd, Number 9 Gbajobi Street, Ikeja, Lagos, Nigeria.
Contact us about privacy at [email protected]. We will identify the appropriate organisation for your programme and location.
2. Information we collect
- Identity and contact details, including your name, email address, telephone number, country and address where required.
- Account information, login records, student number and unique payment reference.
- Programme selection, enrolment status, course activity, assessment results, attendance, practical-training records and certificate information.
- Payment-administration information, including payment amount, date, reference and any payment evidence you send to us. Public website pages do not display our bank details.
- Messages, support requests, complaints and other communications.
- Technical information such as IP address, browser, device, operating system, security logs and cookie identifiers.
- Information required to provide reasonable adjustments or protect health and safety during practical training, where necessary and lawfully collected.
Please do not send payment-card details, passwords or unnecessary sensitive information by email or WhatsApp.
3. How we use information and our lawful bases
- Contract: to create and manage your account, process enrolment, verify payment, deliver learning, arrange practical training, assess progress, issue certificates and provide support.
- Legal obligation: to maintain financial, tax, safeguarding, regulatory and complaint records where required.
- Legitimate interests: to secure and improve our services, prevent fraud, administer the learner relationship, respond to enquiries and maintain accurate training and certificate records, where those interests are not overridden by your rights.
- Consent: for optional marketing, non-essential cookies and any processing for which consent is the appropriate basis. You may withdraw consent at any time.
- Vital interests or substantial public interest: only where applicable, for example a genuine health or safety emergency.
4. Who we share information with
We share only what is necessary with service providers that support website hosting, Moodle and mobile-app learning, email delivery, security, backup, payment verification, learner support and practical training. We may also share information with approved training partners, professional advisers, insurers, regulators, law-enforcement bodies or courts where necessary or legally required.
We do not sell personal information. Training partners may only use learner information for the agreed training, assessment, safety and administration purposes.
5. International access and transfers
Acute Academy operates in the UK and Nigeria. Information may therefore be accessed or processed in either country and by contracted technology providers in other countries. Where data-protection law requires safeguards for an international transfer, we use appropriate contractual, organisational and technical measures.
6. How long we keep information
We keep information only as long as needed for the purpose collected. Account, enrolment, payment, complaint and core training records are normally retained for up to six years after the learner relationship ends, unless law, a dispute or an accreditation requirement requires longer. Essential certificate-verification records may be kept for longer so that an award can be confirmed. Routine enquiries and unsuccessful applications are normally deleted sooner. Security logs and cookies are kept for shorter periods appropriate to their purpose.
7. Cookies and embedded services
We use essential cookies for security, login, account sessions and site operation. Embedded video, Google Play, WhatsApp or similar third-party services may process technical information or set cookies when you interact with them. Non-essential analytics or marketing cookies should only be activated after the required consent. See our Cookie Policy for more information.
8. Your rights
Depending on your location and the applicable law, you may have rights to be informed, access your information, correct inaccurate information, request deletion, restrict or object to processing, receive portable data, withdraw consent and complain to a regulator. Some rights are subject to lawful exceptions, including record-keeping obligations.
UK learners may contact the Information Commissioner’s Office. Nigeria learners may contact the Nigeria Data Protection Commission. Please contact us first if you would like us to resolve a concern.
9. Security
We use access controls, account authentication, backups, software maintenance and other reasonable technical and organisational measures. No online service can guarantee absolute security. Keep your password confidential and notify us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised.
10. Children
Our employment and technical-skills programmes are not directed at children under 16. A parent, guardian or sponsoring organisation should contact us before providing information for a learner under 18 so that appropriate consent and safeguards can be considered.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when our services or legal obligations change. The current version and update date will be published on this page.
